Scratching the Surface

With the ushering in of the internet age, the amount of information (and pace which that information flows) has dramatically increased.  In the old days, analyzing a real estate site or a market involved at least one if not several treks to the local planning department with the hopes of obtaining any kind of demographic information that might be stashed away in a file cabinent.  The dawning of the PC era saw this data migrate from hard copy to digital copy.  But unless you were a very large real estate developer or investor and could afford several 10s of thousands of dollars, the information was still elusive.  With the advent of the internet age in the early 2000s, census information became readily available, for free, to anyone with an internet connection.  Fast forward to today and this segment has again shifted, with demographic information now being supplemented by lifestyle profile information.  This allows just about anyone to gain great insight into a market, whether across the street or across the country, with just a few clicks of the mouse.
